This painting was done in 2014 as part of a series that was reflecting on safety in Oakland during the twilight hour. I lived in Oakland at the time near Jack London Square before it became the bustling area it is now. Once the sun started to set the entire area of business all shut down and rolled down their gates. The area had somewhat of an ominous feeling as the night time hour approached.
